- Husn Ara Kaun is a beautifully crafted sequel to the powerful mini-series Husna Aur Husn Ara which is remembered for its realistic characters, sensitive treatment and soulful music.
The story of Husn Ara Kaun begins from the day she boards a train after leaving Sufi Sahib’s home in search of a new life.
On the train she meets Saeeda Amman who, upon disembarking at Multan, takes her to Malik Jahandad’s haveli where Husn Ara is employed as a maid for the Malik’s second wife Rukhsana. Soon Husn Ara realizes that the haveli is a hotbed of intrigue and the barbaric traditions of a feudal mindset rule the lives of its inmates. Even the Malik’s first wife Zeenat and his young sister Bakhtawar are not exempt from this harsh, discriminatory attitude.
Having experienced this exploitation herself, Husn Ara realizes that to challenge the law of the jungle, she must first tame the lion----Malik Jahandad.
She then sets out to use her beauty and charms to find an escape route for these women who, like many others in the Saraiki belt, have been shackled to inhuman beliefs and practices for centuries. By doing this she is hopeful that other women of the area will also gather courage to stand up against the oppression and atrocities they are forced to endure.
In the process she herself falls hopelessly in love with a man she dare not marry. A shocking revelation by Saeeda Amman in the end brings an electrifying climax that is absolutely worth waiting for.
